IMPERIAL ENTRANCE – EXHIBITION ROAD
Working within the Business School atrium, the main entrance to Imperial’s South Kensington Campus – originally designed and completed by Foster & Partners in 2004 and recognised as a building of local historic merit – Jackson O’Connor Architecture Limited delivered two self-contained draft lobbies: one serving the principal entrance on Exhibition Road and the other the secondary entrance to Dalby Court.
The project required careful navigation of the Planning Consent process while improving environmental control and security within the space. All interventions were designed to respect the integrity of the existing architecture in this high-profile location. This technically and aesthetically complex project demanded precise coordination and a sensitive design approach to ensure that new elements were integrated seamlessly into the original structure, all while the university remained fully operational.
